Buscando consolidar la relación con su aliado estratégico United y ofrecer un producto de clase mundial a sus clientes, Copa Airlines ha dado la bienvenida a su nuevo programa de viajero frecuente, MileagePlus, que entró en vigencia a inicios de este mes y al que pasarán todos los socios del antiguo programa OnePass de la aerolínea.

Según refiere la compañía en un comunicado de prensa, MileagePlus es uno de los 20 programas de viajero frecuente de la red de aerolíneas de Star Alliance que les ofrece a los socios más alternativas para acumular y redimir millas, por tratarse de la más grande red a nivel mundial.

Este programa, que cuenta con más de 90 millones de socios en el mundo, ha sido calificado por ocho años consecutivos como el mejor para los viajeros por los lectores de la revista Global Traveler.

Así lo ha resaltado el director de Mercadeo de Copa, Marco Antonio Ocando, quien aseguró que en la compañía panameña están complacidos de formar parte de un programa para viajeros frecuentes “de talla mundial”.

“Seguimos avanzando en el compromiso de ofrecer mayores beneficios a nuestros pasajeros y la mejor opción de conectividad aérea con el mundo, a través de los 63 destinos en 29 países que operamos como aerolínea, brindando la mejor opción de conectividad, apalancados en el liderazgo en puntualidad y calidad del servicio”, añadió el ejecutivo.

Detalla también la nota de Copa que las millas acumuladas a la fecha y el estatus Elite de los anteriores socios OnePass se mantendrán y la inscripción a MileagePlus se realizará de manera automática. Asimismo, las tarjetas de crédito de marca compartida OnePass seguirán acumulando millas y beneficios para el programa MileagePlus.

United Continental Holdings announced plans to launch year-round and seasonal service on several new routes to begin in the summer of 2012.

“We continue to capitalize on the combined resources of United and Continental to create a network that gives our customers more flights to the places they want to go,” said James Starnes, United’s director of domestic planning. “The flexibility of our fleet allows us to put the right aircraft in the right markets to serve new communities and to add additional flights to communities we already serve.”

Daily Service between Washington/Dulles and Honolulu

United will begin daily year-round service between Washington/Dulles International Airport (IAD) and Honolulu (HNL) on June 7, 2012, the only nonstop service between the two points. The flights will operate using Boeing 767-400 aircraft.

United, the largest carrier between the mainland U.S. and Hawaii, connects the Aloha State with eight mainland cities, as well as Tokyo, Guam and Majuro, offering nonstop service in 23 city pairs.

From its Dulles hub, United also offers more domestic and international service from the nation’s capital than any other airline.

New Summer Seasonal Flights from Denver, Houston and San Francisco

The airline will also add seasonal service to several popular summer travel destinations.

Alaska: New daily service between Denver (DEN) and Fairbanks, Alaska (FAI), will operate from June 7, 2012 through Aug. 27, 2012, using Boeing 737-800 aircraft. Fairbanks offers access to Denali National Park, one of Alaska’s most visited destinations. The flights complement United’s existing Alaska service to Anchorage from hubs in Denver, Chicago, Houston and San Francisco, as well as Seattle.

South Dakota: United Express will offer daily seasonal service between Houston’s Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) and Rapid City, S.D. (RAP), gateway to the Black Hills, Mount Rushmore and the Badlands National Park, from June 7, 2012, to Aug. 27, 2012. ExpressJet will operate the flights using Embraer ERJ-145 aircraft. United currently serves Rapid City from its Denver and Chicago hubs.

Wyoming: The airline will also add summer-season flights between its Houston and San Francisco (SFO) hubs and Jackson Hole, Wyo. (JAC), which attracts millions of summer visitors to nearby Yellowstone National Park and the Grand Tetons. The Houston flights will operate twice-weekly from June 8, 2012, through Aug. 27, 2012, using Boeing 757 aircraft. The San Francisco flights will operate daily from July 1, 2012, through Aug. 27, 2012, as United Express, with Bombardier CR7 aircraft flown by SkyWest Airlines. These flights are in addition to United’s existing service to Jackson Hole from hubs in Chicago, Denver and Los Angeles.

With these new route additions, United will remain within the previously announced capacity guidance.

Since the October 2010 merger of United and Continental, the larger combined fleet has given the company flexibility to better meet market demand. United has added new routes from its hubs to international destinations such as Lagos, Nigeria; Guadalajara, Mexico; Montreal, Canada; Port-au-Prince, Haiti; Shanghai, China, and Stuttgart, Germany, along with new intra-Asia routes between the Tokyo hub and Hong Kong and between the Guam hub and Okinawa, Japan.

The merger also enabled the company to add a number of new domestic routes by using a mix of mainline and regional aircraft from both carriers more efficiently.

In addition, previously announced new service between New York/Newark and Buenos Aires, and between Washington/Dulles and Manchester, U.K. and Washington/Dulles and Dublin, Ireland, will begin this spring.

Les compagnies américaines United Airlines et Continental Airlines vont fusionner leurs systèmes de réservation et leurs programmes de fidélité en mars, avant de lancer un site internet unique.

Alors que les deux transporteurs américains, dont la fusion date d’octobre 2010, révélaient des pertes financières au quatrième trimestre 2011 dues en partie aux coûts associés au processus, leurs passagers vont enfin en voir une conséquence tangible. United Continental Holdings a annoncé « être en bonne voie » pour leur proposer dès le mois de mars 2012 un seul système de réservation et l’utilisation des comptoirs de chaque compagnies quel que soit l’opérateur du vol qu’ils veulent réserver, des changements qui touchent en moyenne 264 0000 voyageurs par jour.

Des centaines d’appareils ont déjà été repeints aux nouvelles couleurs du groupe, et des employés ont commencé à déménager du siège de Continental Airlines à Houston vers celui de United Airlines à Chicago. Rappelons aussi l’attribution par la FAA d’un certificat d’opérations unique pour les deux transporteurs le 30 novembre 2011, les contrôleurs aériens ne « parlant » depuis que de vols United.

Une fois la fusion complète, United Continental Holdings (volant alors sous le nom de United Airlines) deviendra la plus grosse compagnie du monde en nombre de passagers transportés, avec 80 000 employés. Seul le logo de Continental survivra au changement…

UNITED from 29SEP12 is introducing Boeing 777-200ER aircraft on its daily Houston – Rio de Janeiro route, replacing Boeing 767-400ER. The 767-400ER will then shift to Houston – Buenos Aires operation from the same day, replacing 767-200ER aircraft.

Note the 777 service to Rio de Janeiro is operated by Continental with 2-class configuration.

Tam y United incrementarán a partir de hoy los vuelos entre Norteamérica y Sudamérica gracias a un convenio de códigos compartidos, incluyendo los servicios de viajero frecuente.

United Airlines ha comenzado la venta de billetes par su nueva ruta directa entre San Francisco y Guangzhou el 6 de noviembre. Los vuelos de realizaran cotidianamente y sin escalas a partir del 18 de junio con un avión Boeing 777, el cual podra transportar 253 pasajeros y 15 toneladas de carga.
