#Emirates adds fifth #U.S. gateway with new service to #Dallas / Fort Worth

8 Feb

Emirates launched its new Dallas/Fort Worth service. It is the fifth gateway for Emirates in the United States, and the fourth new route to join the airline’s international network so far in 2012.

Emirates will serve Dallas/Fort Worth daily with a Boeing 777 aircraft offering the highest standards of passenger comfort, including private suites in First Class, lie-flat beds in Business Class and generously-sized Economy Class seats. EK221 leaves Dubai daily at 0245hrs, arriving at Dallas/Fort Worth at 0905hrs. The return sector, EK 222, leaves Dallas/Fort Worth at 1150hrs, arriving at Dubai International Airport at 1220hrs the following day.

“The United Arab Emirates is the single largest export market for American goods in the Middle East and trade continues to grow sharply, up more than 20 per cent in 2011 compared to the previous 12 months,” said His Excellency Yousef Al Otaiba, the United Arab Emirates Ambassador to the United States.

“The U.S. is on target to surpass its pre-downturn 2008 record of $14.4 billion in total exports to the U.A.E. and this new Emirates route will spur hundreds of millions more in local economic activity. It will also attract more U.A.E. investment to Texas and more Texas investment in the U.A.E.,” added His Excellency Mr Al Otaiba.

The new Emirates daily service to Dubai is a monumental development for DFW Airport, because it opens up a key region of the world for the citizens of Dallas/Fort Worth,” said Jeffrey P. Fegan, CEO of DFW International Airport. “We are very pleased to have Emirates, one of the world’s most highly regarded airlines, connecting DFW and Dubai, two of the world’s top airport hubs.”

“This daily flight is a big deal for both North Texas and our partners in the U.A.E.,” said Fort Worth Mayor Betsy Price. “Our world is getting smaller, and it’s crucial that we take advantage of every opportunity to expand our global business and tourism presence. This connection certainly does that. Fort Worth is excited about the doors that will open thanks to this daily connection with our partners in Dubai.”

Emirates doubles Glasgow service

16 Jan

Emirates has today underlined its commitment to Scotland with plans to introduce a second daily non-stop flight to Glasgow, commencing 1st June 2012.

The announcement comes as a result of continued demand for Emirates’ service between Dubai and Glasgow, which began in 2004. Since then, the international airline of the UAE has carried over 1.7 million passengers and tens of millions of kilos of cargo.

The additional flight, coupled with an aircraft upgrade on the existing service, will increase Emirates’ capacity to Glasgow by 47 per cent, an extra 199 seats each way per day. It will also provide an additional 13 tonnes of daily cargo capacity.

First Class cabins will be available on both daily services, the first time this has been offered by a commercial airline operating into Scotland.

“This announcement illustrates our commitment to Scotland and to our wider UK route network in difficult economic times,” said Salem Obaidalla, Emirates’ Senior Vice President, Commercial Operations, Europe & Russian Federation. “Our Glasgow route has been a real success story, and we are confident that there is demand for additional services flying to and from Dubai and beyond to our global network of over 100 destinations.

“The introduction of a First Class cabin on both daily flights also means greater choice for passengers, while increased cargo capacity means more export business opportunities for cargo shippers in Scotland ,” added Mr Obaidalla.

The Glasgow authorities estimate that the twice-daily service will deliver a local economic benefit of AED 187 million (£33 million) with almost 140,000 inbound passengers in 2012 alone. Over the next five years, the route will be worth more than AED 1.1 billion (£200m) to the city, bringing more than 846,000 inbound passengers to Glasgow through to 2016.

EK 026 will depart daily from Glasgow at 2130hrs, arriving in Dubai at 0800hrs the next day. The existing day-time flight EK 027/EK 028 is being upgraded to a three-class Boeing 777-300ER with eight First Class Private Suites, 42 lie-flat beds in Business Class and 310 seats in Economy Class. It offers a generous 22 tonnes of cargo capacity.

Emirates Airlines adquiere 70 A350 y 11 A380 adicionales

15 Nov
